Virgen De Guadalupe Chapel In The Progreso Neighborhood. Rivers With New Water
The Progreso neighborhood, which is part of the Valle del Río community and located at the other end of the river that separates it from the other communities, received support with the donation of a water purification system.
Thanks to its friendly, attentive, and proactive inhabitants, the installation was carried out quickly and smoothly. The site was in the best conditions for the water treatment equipment to function optimally. This was made possible by the excellent coordination of the water committee and the support of the Delegate.
Let’s remember that there are 5 technical requirements for the installation of the water treatment system:
- A solid wall is required to support the equipment
- Electricity is needed, as the integrated pump runs on electricity. The pump provides the necessary water pressure for the equipment.
- The place should be roofed to protect the equipment from weather conditions.
- The location where it is installed must be publicly accessible, as the goal is to benefit as many people as possible
- There must be water where the equipment can be connected to make it drinkable
Although it may seem easy to meet these requirements, the reality is that conditions after Otis and John have made it very difficult to meet them 100%. However, communities like this one work together enthusiastically to improve their spaces day by day. The secret has been teamwork and communication between the delegate, the water committee, and the inhabitants of the town, keeping them informed in a very transparent way so they can also participate in all the technical and social processes involved in the donation.
Rafael Rodríguez, a member of the water committee, shared the following words with us:
"We are very grateful for the support you are giving us...” “because we suffer because of the rivers during the rainy season when trying to get from one side to the other. One of the main things we need is water, and we can only thank you".
Water Saves Liveswould like to thank the Castillo Family and organizations such as the Universidad Campesina del Sur (UNICAM), Guerrero es Primero, Banco de Alimentos de México, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, Centro Nacional de Apoyo para Contingencias Epidemiológicas y Desastres, Unidos Por Ellos and Fundación Walmart México, for their support and patience throughout this process.
A million thanks to Marco Antonio Jaramillo and Adriana Paz de la UNICAM for their work in the field.
