San Isidro Municipal Delegation. A Place With Soul
What makes San Isidro so special? That was the question we had before arriving at this community. And as soon as we were there, we realized that what makes it so unique is its people—their good-hearted nature, their willingness to support each other, and their commitment to improving their shared spaces and collective lives.
It was in their municipal delegation where the inhabitants decided to install the water purification equipment—a space they had prepared days in advance to ensure the installation would be possible. When the Water Saves Lives and UNICAM teams arrived at the site, the San Isidro water committee was already waiting for them, with all the necessary conditions for the installers to do their work.
We always see this unity and organization prior to the installation as a sign of the community's immediate and future commitment, since we must remember that the donation and installation are only the first steps. To ensure success, the responsibility will always fall on the community, and the inhabitants of San Isidro will have to take that on. Guadalupe Vinalay, treasurer of the Water Committee, shares:
"...It’s going to benefit the whole town, because with the hurricanes that happened, we suffered a lot from the lack of drinking water. We didn’t have it in our homes, so we are very grateful for the benefit it will bring us".
We thank the Castillo Familyand organizations such as the Universidad Campesina del Sur (UNICAM), Guerrero es Primero, Banco de Alimentos de México, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, Centro Nacional de Apoyo para Contingencias Epidemiológicas y Desastres, Unidos Por Ellos and Fundación Walmart México, for their support and trust in making these donations through Water Saves Lives.
A special thanks to Adriana Paz and Marco Antonio Jaramillo of UNICAM whose professionalism in the field deserves our applause.
