Los Nopales Police Station. From Intention To Action
The recent donation of a water purification plant to a village in need has been a catalyst for significant change, highlighting the power of solidarity and community action.
The arrival of the water purification equipment marks an important milestone for the town of Los Nopales, as for years, residents faced daily difficulties due to limited access to potable water, which affected their health and quality of life. The installation of the water treatment plant has provided a tangible solution, offering a vital resource that contributes to improving living conditions and reducing water-related illnesses.
Beyond the equipment, the real transformation began with the training of community water committee members. The process of teaching them how to use and maintain the equipment not only equipped residents with practical skills, but also gave them a sense of autonomy and ownership over the solution. This participatory approach aims to strengthen the social fabric of the village, creating a sense of empowerment that goes beyond the simple provision of a resource.
Melquiades Blanco, a community member and part of the water committee formed specifically to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the water treatment plant, shared his thoughts
"They came to benefit us, we are very grateful for being with us, because it is a good benefit for the community, children and the elderly and the whole town will benefit, in advance I thank you again and again".
This catalyst is the prelude to broader change in the community, as the breakthrough has generated momentum for other local development initiatives. The experience gained with the water treatment plant will demonstrate the potential of community action and inspire other local stakeholders to seek innovative solutions to the challenges they face on a daily basis.
This achievement is just the beginning; the key is to continue building on the successes already achieved, learning from the lessons and remaining committed to continuous progress. We are confident that thanks to the alliance between Water Saves Lives, the Castillo Family and organizations such as the Universidad Campesina del Sur, Guerrero es Primero, Banco de Alimentos de México, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, Centro Nacional de Apoyo para Contingencias Epidemiológicas y Desastres, Unidos Por Ellos and Fundación Walmart México, we will be able to continue transforming realities in a positive way.
To Marco Antonio Jaramillo and Adriana Paz of UNICAM, we would like to express our enormous gratitude for their work, the installation was achieved thanks to their professionalism.
