El Porvenir Police Station. Empowered Committees For A Common Benefit
El Porvenir is an organized community that enthusiastically received the new water purification equipment, an equipment that will benefit the entire community without distinctions, all the inhabitants will be able to go to the police station to fill their water containers and benefit from this resource.
In this community, a group of three women have joined the water committee, which will be in charge of managing and safeguarding the water treatment plant. Empowered women who take the initiative of this great work, because with their support the equipment will work properly, at times established by the community itself so that everyone can make use of the service.
The equipment is designed for easy use, but this does not exempt the inhabitants of each community from learning how to use it, for this reason in El Porvenir the water committee quickly learned how to use the water purifier, they even made a test of how it worked and manipulated the equipment with ease, as if they were using it in everyday life.
They took pictures, videos, asked questions and were given an instruction manual for better understanding, there was a lot of interest on the part of the committee to learn everything about the water purifier. There were several samples of gratitude, an example of them is that of Nohemí Zacarias, who shares with us.
"The plant will benefit 150 inhabitants of this community... Thanks to the different foundations that support this project, which is very good, because in the communities we do not have clean water and with this support we will benefit a lot".
We are extremely grateful to the Castillo Family and organizations such as Universidad Campesina del Sur, Guerrero es Primero, Banco de Alimentos de México, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, Centro Nacional de Apoyo para Contingencias Epidemiológicas y Desastres, Unidos Por Ellos and Fundación Walmart México, for making this possible, always attentive to any situation in which they could collaborate.
We would like to thank Mr. Alejandro Hernández for all the logistical support he provided.
