San José Mogollón Municipal Police Station. The Organization Of The People
The town of San José Mogollón became a special place for the Water Saves Lives team and the Universidad Campesina del Sur, because in the field there are always unexpected logistical situations that have to be solved immediately, we have to solve everything that arises immediately in order to continue with the work. And it was this community who supported us so that everything went as smoothly as possible.
From the organization, the village commissioner who was very active and present to help at all times, to the support group of the community and the water committee who made sure that all the technical requirements were ready for the installation of the water treatment plant. As well as the welcoming environment they made us feel, they were key to achieve a good job in installing the water treatment plant.
We would also like to point out that the water committee was made up of the following members: Coordinator, Secretary and Treasurer. The joint function of this committee is to maintain, safeguard and operate the water treatment plant properly. From the moment the water treatment equipment was given to the people, it was in their hands for its proper use, any agreement reached by the people about the water treatment plant will be made through the organization they have created. This is very important in their social process, as these actions promote community participation and empowerment.
Towns like this one with such organized people who are interested in their well being, who are aware of the common good that the donation will bring, are places of example for other communities.
Once again we want to recognize the Castillo Family and organizations such as the Universidad Campesina del Sur, Guerrero es Primero, Banco de Alimentos de México, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, Centro Nacional de Apoyo para Contingencias Epidemiológicas y Desastres, Unidos Por Ellos and Fundación Walmart México, for making this possible.
To Carlos García, Marco Antonio Jaramillo and Adriana Paz of UNICAM, our most sincere thanks for their brilliant logistical and community work.
