Ejido Viejo Health Center. Achievements Always Together
The town of Ejido Viejo was one of the beneficiaries of the donation of a water purification plant, which was installed in the health center, a space belonging to everyone and for everyone. The infrastructure of a water purification plant that stopped working years ago due to wear and tear was located there.
Since then the village had not had a system renovation, fortunately we were able to reach this community to support them with new water treatment equipment that will provide them for many years to come with completely clean water.
It is also very important to say that the impact of this donation is not limited to the immediate improvement of the health and well-being of the community. In the long term, consistent access to clean water can contribute to the economic and social development of the region. Families can spend less time and resources searching for clean water, allowing them to focus on other productive and educational activities. Yolanda Dorantes, a local from Ejido Viejo, shares:
“´They came to support us with a community purifier, which we are quite grateful for, because in our town it is truly a need that we have always had, because we do not have drinking water, and with this we would already have the basics, the most important thing…”

Despite the benefits, commissioning the equipment is not without its challenges. Installation and maintenance of the equipment requires resources and training, so it is crucial to ensure that residents are adequately trained to operate and maintain the watermaker. In addition, consideration should be given to the provision of spare parts and the ability to make repairs when necessary.
To ensure long-term sustainability, a proper maintenance and repair plan needs to be implemented. Training of local technicians is a key investment to ensure that the equipment functions properly even when technical problems arise. In addition, collaboration with local and governmental organizations can help ensure that the necessary resources and support continue to be available.
This is yet another achievement in conjunction with the Castillo Family and organizations such as the Universidad Campesina del Sur, Guerrero es Primero, Banco de Alimentos de México, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, Centro Nacional de Apoyo a Contingencias Epidemiológicas y Desastres, Unidos Por Ellos and Fundación Walmart México, we thank you for being a fundamental part of this process.
