Totolapan. Installation of the Justo Sierra School.
The first installation of 2023 took place in the municipality of Totolapan, Mexico, at the Justo Sierra School.
This school is the central point of the community where a rainwater collection tank, donated by the ProMazahua Foundation, is located. The children who attend the school drink water directly from this tank, but because it is not purified, it sometimes causes stomach aches and headaches among the students.
Water Saves Lives addressed this problem by installing a purification system with different hydration zones. There are a total of 150 children in the community, 60 of whom attend school. They will be the main beneficiaries, but the teachers and families of the neighborhood will also be able to enjoy this quality water.
Jesús, Carlos and Yoali, students at the school, shared their testimony with us:
"Thank you for the filters because we no longer get sick or have stomach aches".
"We used to drink water from a tank and when we drank it we got stomach aches, now thanks to the filters we don't have to worry".
"We used to drink water directly from the tap when we went out for a break and when we got thirsty we would get stomachaches and headaches, thanks to the filters we no longer have health problems, symptoms of stomachaches or headaches, we have purified and clean water for our health".
Water Saves Lives is a collaborative effort between members, customers and Clarity staff. As the Clarity community grows, more children in their communities will benefit from the installation of water purification systems..
Together, let's continue to make this project a reality.
